Tips & Tricks

Making Your Social Media Content Accessible to Everyone

Accessibility isn't just the right thing to do — it also expands your potential audience. Over 1 billion people worldwide live with some form of disability.

Video Accessibility

  • Add captions: 85% of videos are watched without sound. Captions benefit everyone, not just deaf or hard-of-hearing viewers
  • Use high contrast text: Ensure text is easily readable against backgrounds
  • Don't rely on color alone: Use shapes, text, and patterns in addition to color to convey information
  • Keep flashing minimal: Rapid flashing can trigger seizures in some viewers

Story Accessibility

  • Font size: Use text large enough to read on small screens
  • Alt text: Add descriptions to your Instagram posts for screen readers
  • Clear fonts: Decorative fonts are harder to read for people with dyslexia
  • Sufficient contrast: Light text on light backgrounds is hard for many people to read

Audio Accessibility

  • Always add captions or text overlays for key dialogue
  • Don't make audio the only way to understand your content
  • Describe important visual elements in your narration

When designing stories in ArtStory, choose templates with high-contrast color schemes and large, readable fonts. Accessibility and great design go hand in hand.
